Liying Wan

Director, Division of Ocean Data Fusion and Assimilation, NMEFC

She is a Research Scientist with core research interests covering ocean numerical forecasting and data assimilation. Since 2021, she has concurrently served as a part-time Professor at Tianjin University and Hohai University. Her early research built a robust technical foundation in marine numerical modeling and data assimilation. In recent years, her research field has been further broadened to encompass ocean data fusion and analysis, standardized validation of operational oceanographic products, AI-enabled forecasting technologies, as well as marine heatwave prediction.

Leveraging her in-depth professional expertise, she leads a research team committed to the development and long-term operational maintenance of multiple ocean numerical forecasting systems across China. She has been an active member of the IV-TT since 2013 and joined the AI-TT last year.
