Senior scientist in the earth system modelling section at ECMWF - UK/Europe

Kristian Mogensen is a senior scientist in the earth system modelling section of the ECMWF research department working on ocean modelling with emphasis on infrastructure and coupling to the atmospheric modelling component of the ECMWF integrated forecasting system. He has previously been involved with the ocean data assimilation activities at ECMWF and was heavily involved in introducing ocean and sea-ice coupling into the operations modelling system of all ECMWF predictions systems. Among his current research interests are effects of ocean coupling on tropical cyclones predictions and ocean and sea-ice coupling to the atmosphere on numerical weather prediction time scales.

He is also co-chair of the Coupled Prediction task Team (CP-TT).
