Goro Yamanaka

Department of Atmosphere, Ocean, and Earth System Modeling Research Head at MRI/JMA - JAPAN

Goro Yamanaka is the head of the 4th laboratory, Department of Atmosphere, Ocean, and Earth System Modeling Research, Meteorological Research Institute (MRI), Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). He is currently in a position to manage the team developing the ocean prediction system in JMA. He is an ocean modeler, and his specific interest is to study water mass formation in the North Pacific, ENSO, decadal variability, future climate change in the western North Pacific and the predictability of the medium range forecast using a coupled atmosphere-ocean model.
