Senior Scientist, Marine Biogeochemistry, Ocean Forecasting R&D, Met Office - UK
David Ford joined the Met Office in December 2008, and is a Senior Scientist in the Marine Biogeochemistry team within Ocean Forecasting Research and Development. His primary expertise is developing data assimilation schemes for satellite ocean colour and in-situ biogeochemical observations, and applying these to operational forecasting, reanalysis, and research. He has also worked on physical data assimilation, and the pull-through of modelling systems from research to operations. He has experience with both global open ocean and regional shelf seas modelling systems, and is involved in international projects including the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service and the European Space Agency’s Climate Change Initiative.
