Ocean observations for operational use

Ocean prediction centres vitally rely on remotely sensed and in-situ ocean observations to be able to produce reliable ocean forecasts. Observation data are used for many purposes within ocean prediction centres, including as input data, either assimilated or non-assimilated, or for model validation. Ocean observation and ocean prediction communities strive to work together closely to understand each others working operations and the requirement for useful ocean observation applications.

OceanPredict is collecting information from associated ocean prediction centres about the operational use of ocean observations. This information is now available on this website. Please visit https://oceanpredict.org/observations-use/  for further information.
